About Big Horse Recordings

Background

Andy Moore cut his teeth musically as a member of the highly-respected indie rock band Deas Vail, touring for 6 years, recording 3 full-length albums and 3 EPs. He has worked with producers Mark Lee Townsend, Matthew Hoopes and Joshua Silverberg, as well as artists Copeland, Owl City, Relient K, Switchfoot, MAE, O Brother, Listener, The New Frontiers and Now Now. These experiences developed an intuition for writing, producing, and recording music as an honest expression that creates a deeper connection with the listener.

More recently, Andy has recorded a solo album called Endless Wave as well as teamed up with Daniel Brinker to record the eponymous Dover Lights album which has garnered international acclaim. Below are samples of Andy’s recent recordings with Dover Lights, Sam Allbright & the Southern Heat and his own solo work. Learn more about Andy’s skills as a record producer here.

What Clients Are Saying

“I reached out to Andy to record and co-produce the Dover Lights album because of the depth of his love for music and the uniqueness of his technical mind. You get something special when you work with him at Big Horse. His background is that he is a trained mechanical engineer, with a highly analytical nature; this is a guy who hand-built his own beautiful house and recording studio. He is excellent at microphone placement (getting the sounds that you want upfront before editing anything in post-production), and he is willing to go the extra miles and hook up as many great sounding pieces of equipment as possible during a take. You can always scale down later and cut things out of a mix with him if it’s too much. It makes things easy to have his expertise and all of his top-notch equipment at hand. Andy is willing to try anything to get “the sound.” He’s an excellent guitar player and bassist, not only in the traditional sense but also in the experimental. He has an ear for taking traditional instruments and turning them into other-worldly sounds that you’re imagining in your head. We had amazing progress working on the record. If you plan on making a record, I would say ‘go for it’ for anyone thinking about Big Horse Recordings.”
